Job description

As a computer scientist specialising in platform development you will be responsible for building and maintaining IT systems. You will select the appropriate software and hardware and install computers, printers and servers. You will also configure the various services involved, correct faults, perform support duties, train users and be responsible for network security. You will ensure that all systems are available at all times.

What we require from you

You are an independent, reliable, approachable and motivated person who is keen to take on responsibilities. You enjoy IT and team work, are interested in technology and have a flair for structure and organisation. 

Your particular qualities include enthusiasm and curiosity, rapid powers of learning and deduction, a gift for organisation, being articulate and a good communicator, being good at logical and abstract thinking, a good imagination, perseverance and discipline. We also require that you have completed your compulsory education at higher or intermediate level plus one additional year, and have very good results in your core subjects as well as basic touch-typing skills.

Education at SERTO

As a prospective computer scientist specialising in platform development you will be performing exciting tasks, predominantly in support, and you will take on additional IT responsibilities as your level of training makes you more versatile.

Vocational college

Your course lasts 4 years.

The vocational college can, if your academic results are good, be associated with the school offering preparatory courses for the Swiss Federal vocational baccalaureate examination. Your routine at vocational college or vocational baccalaureate preparatory school (BM) will look like this:

  • 1st year of study: 3 days at school per week (3 days at school at BM)
  • 2nd year of study: 2 days at school per week (2 days at school at BM)
  • 3rd year of study: 1 day at school per week (1.5 days at school at BM)
  • 4th year of study: 1 day at school per week (1.5 days at school at BM)

You will also take 7 IC (Industry Course) modules of 5 days each, for a total of 35 IC days.
